Let me explain. There are two things in this world, that if I were able to track them down, I would be so happy! One of them is the rest of the pieces to a Nativity set that I bought from a vendor at the Drummondville Folk Dance Festival in Quebec when I was on tour with the BYU Folk Dance team in 2001. I couldn't afford the whole set at the time, but now I really, really want the rest of it. It is so pretty, but I have no clue how to find it. I have tried searching, but so far no luck.
The second item is my Rockin' Chicken. Also known as the Rock and Roll chicken alarm clock. I got this alarm clock in HS, and I thought it was the funniest thing EVER! I took it to college with me, and it was the center of some fun pranks. My sophomore year, my roommate and I hid it under the bed in these boys apartment in our ward, and had it set to go off in the middle of the night. We then made some posters like for a missing person, that had a drawing of the chicken, and it said "Missing: Rockin' Chicken" with some basic stats, etc. and a contact number to call with any info. Needless to say it took some time for us to recover our Missing chicken, but it was lots of fun.
Fast forward a few months, and the chicken was the center of yet another prank. This time, I conspired with some girls on my folk dance team to plant the chicken under the bed of none other than my current DH. It did not work the first time, so we had to sneak in to his house to re-set the clock. He innocently played dumb about our references to "chicken" so we snuck in yet again. However, the chicken was no where to be found! He did find it, and proceeded to take my chicken apart. It semi-resurfaced a short time later with it's sound box connected to a giant speaker placed under MY bed. I luckily came across the said speaker before the time for it to blast through my apartment in the wee hours of the morning. I felt pretty proud for foiling the plan, and proceeded to request my chicken be returned to me whole. My sweet DH (not my dh at the time) assured me he would get it back to me shortly. The semester went on, and things got busier, and he still had not returned my clock. He is a pretty honest and trustworthy fellow, so I trusted and believed him that he would indeed put my chicken back together, so we could be re-united. Unfortunately, the pieces of my chicken became missing, and that was the end of my chicken. I was very sad, but how could I be upset at such a dear, sweet, guy? Apparently I couldn't since I married him, but the sad demise of my chicken clock will always be a sore spot for me. My quest is to find another one. The only problem is that they are no longer produced, so my only hope is to find one on ebay, or somewhere else. There are none listed at the moment. Here is a link to a site that has a picture, and a sound clip of my dear (may he RIP) beloved Rockin' Chicken:http://www.champsclock.com/animated.htm Scroll down to find the photo of the Rock and Roll Chicken and push play to hear him. Oh the memories! Brings tears to my eyes!
I will post about Christmas later! I just had to share my thoughts on this subject first.

Kerry! That is soooo funny because my sister used to have one of those chicken clocks in high school too!! We all thought it was hilarious too, of course! Listening to it brought back the memories. I wonder what happened to hers? How funny that they're kindof a "collectible" now.

Really? I have never known anyone else with the beloved chicken! If she still has it, maybe she would want to sell it? I don't know how much Tony would let me spend for it...he doesn't have the same loving memories of it as I do. Will you ask her and see?
