Today I ordered the crib set for the baby. I think it is so cute! It's girly without being too frilly. Those of you who knew my childhood, know that I had so much pink in my bedroom, that you could see a pink glow coming from my room from down the hall! I do like pink, and think it is a must have for little girls, but I didn't want an overload. I think this set will do rather nicely. I found a really cute bedside table in a catalog that is shaped like a flower. I hope it matches, because I want to get it for her room too. It is also pink and green. I guess if it doesn't match, I could repaint it? Or just return it I guess. I haven't ordered it yet.
Well, it is snowing right now, and very cold! Little buddy loves the snow! We did venture out in it to get the mail, and man is it slick! I better not attempt that too much. I don't want to fall down...that would be bad news bears! I keep telling Little buddy that it is snowing. He looks out the window and says " Snow? Yep...it's snow." So matter of factly. "Snow like Charlie Brown" he says. Ya think he has seen that show enough? He loves it!
Well, off to go get the little fella down for a nice cozy nap. Just had to show off my latest purchase!
BTW...check out some of my past posts, because I have edited them and added some photos!

Come On! Eat your dinner...please?
I am sitting at the table as I type this waiting for Little buddy to eat one bite of his dinner so he can get down from the table. He has been sitting here for about an hour and a half, and hasn't touched his dinner. I can't figure it out, since it is macaroni and cheese and broccoli, and he loves them both. I think the problem is that I mixed them together, so the broccoli has cheese on it, and the macaroni and cheese has broccoli on it. Are you serious? Just eat them!
O.k. T gave in and gave him a baby carrot instead, and since he did take a bite of that, he let him down from the table so they could go play toys. Good grief already! Those 2 year olds can last a long time in a battle of wills! And the bad thing is...he still didn't have to eat the dinner I made! The worst part of it is all the junk he has eaten today. He hardly ate any waffle for breakfast. And then around 10:15, he decided he needed chips. Pringles to be exact. I gave in, and let him have some. I then had to go meet T at his work, so we could go to the bank and have the paperwork notarized to overnight back to Lafayette for our house closing tomorrow. At the bank, they had popcorn. So, of course we had to have about 2 bags full of that. On top of that, he had part of a tootsie pop, and about 2 rice krispy treats. That was his lunch today. Bad mommy, terrible mommy! I really tried to redeem myself with the broccoli for dinner (and pears too, for that matter, which of course he demanded, but wouldn't eat) but that backfired terribly. I am going to put my foot down tomorrow, and not allow ANY junk food at all all day. String cheese, clementines, baby carrots for snacks. No chips!
So the weather today turned mighty frightful! It was gloomy to start, and then rained all afternoon. It was about 30 degrees on top of that, so the rain was freezing to everything. There are little tiny icicles in all the trees and bushes, and a little skiff of snow on the ground in spots. It is definitely looking like winter now! I am sooooo glad I have a garage! I won't have to scrape off my car! Yippee! I hate that!
Well, I tried a recipe that Heather suggested for Fudge using a pudding mix. It is setting in the fridge right now. I can't wait to have a taste in a few more hours! Yummy! I am also listening to Christmas music. I love Christmas music. I try to buy a new Christmas cd every year. This year I bought a really pretty one. It is called "Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration". I love Celtic music. It is so pretty. There are little clips so you can hear bits of each song.
I am a long blogger I decided. Once I get writing, I can't seem to stop. This is definitely a fun way to journal.
Happy Holidays!

Great week-end!

I have had a wonderful Thanksgiving week-end! My parents flew in late on Thanksgiving day. I picked them up from the airport at around 5 p.m., so by the time we got home it was almost 6. I had left T home to take care of the turkey, and getting the casseroles in the oven for the last 3o minutes to bake. Well, needless to say, everything was ready EXCEPT the turkey, so we had to wait until 7 to eat. It was o.k. though. Dinner was yummy, and we had a good time visiting while we waited.
Friday morning, T flew back to Indy to prepare for his defense. While it would have been nice to have him here to enjoy the week-end, I was very glad to have my parents here for company. We had a good time, and Little buddy loved every minute of it. Grandpa spent about 2 days working on raking the leaves in the backyard, and still didn't get it finished before he left today. He would have if I didn't keep dragging him off to go places. My nice neighbor let my dad use his leaf blower, so he had a great time. It was beautiful weather too, so it was nice to be outside. Little buddy got to help grandpa with the leaves. Dad scooped the leaves onto a tarp, and then hauled them out into the trees behind our house to scatter them in the "forest". Little buddy would get thrown into the leaves, and would just lay there as still as could be while grandpa dragged the tarp across the yard to the edge of the "forest". It was so funny! All you could see of the little guy was his face. I wish I had gotten a picture of it. He had a great time.
Saturday night I had to prepare my talk for church on Sunday. My topic was a very interesting one. It was "Peace and Safety come through Faith and Trust in God and God's kingdom on earth". I started my talk by talking about tornadoes, and how we have some warning to help us get to safety. I compared the tornado sirens being our warning, to the prophets on the earth today. They give us warnings to heed of the dangers to come in our day. If we heed their councils, we will have nothing to fear when the danger comes. We will be prepared. I also talked about building our faith and testimonies in order to help us have strong foundations. I mentioned how it isn't enough to rely on spiritual experiences we have had in the past, we need to be constantly working to increase our faith, and to find testimony building experiences. I told of my participation in th Hill Cumorah Pageant, and how I now have an unmistakable, undoubtable testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel...especially the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, and the fact that Joseph Smith IS a true prophet. I cannot doubt the feelings I felt while there, and will always have that knowledge to keep me safe from the "storms". I know how hard Satan is working to knock us off our foundations. I know that even when we are doing the things we are supposed to, that life will still have its challenges and strong winds, but we will stay firm and sure if we have our foundation strong. I have heard too many stories lately of people who have let their faith waver, and they have let their foundation crumble. This has emphasized even more to me how much harder we need to work to keep ourselves strong.
Anyway...of course I referred to the wise man who built his house upon the rock, and I also had to add another example...the 3 little pigs. We have been telling that story to little buddy at night lately, so it was fresh in my head. If we work hard, and build our house of bricks, the big bad wolf, cannot huff and puff and blow our house down. If we try and hurry and just do the basics to get by, like building the house of straw or sticks, the winds will blow us down.
I referred a lot to a talk given in the October 2006 General Conference by Elder David S. Baxter called "Faith, Service, Constancy" http://www.lds.org/conference/talk/display/0,5232,23-1-646-5,00.htm It's a great talk.
I was glad to finally have that talk over with, and I was able to relax and spend the time with my family. We spent yesterday visiting the visitor's center in Independence and then Liberty Jail. We watched the Joseph Smith movie, and it was really good. Logan sat through the whole thing, and was really good! It was over an hour, so I wasn't sure he would last, but he did. I think there was something about the spirit of it that kept him calm. He even asked me questions about things that were happening. I was so proud of him.
I have made this long enough, so I will sign off for now. T is home, and is finally done with his PhD! I guess I can now call him Dr. T! It's a relief!

The new bed
Little buddy LOVES his new bed. He was even willing to pose on it today so I could take some pictures. In fact, this pose was all him...I had no part in it. He climbed up on the bed and said "more pictures mommy" and then posed for me. So cute! Of course he wasn't dressed yet for the day, so his jammies fit right in with the bed!
I have to tell something so funny. This happened a few nights ago, but I can't stop laughing whenever I think about it, so I thought I better put it on my blog. As I have mentioned before, Little buddy is addicted to Charlie Brown. Well, the other night he wasn't feeling well, and didn't want to eat anything except chocolate milk all day. When T came home, we tried to have dinner, but Little buddy wanted to watch Charlie Brown. We decided tolet him since he wouldn't eat anything anyway. So while T and I are eating, T keeps listening and half-way watching Charlie Brown too. They were saying Linus's last name...Linus Van Pelt. And all of a sudden T says " So it's Linus Van Pelt...what's Charlie Brown's last name?" I just looked at him for a second, and when I realized he was serious, I busted up laughing! He figured out his blunder really quick, but still, I had a good laugh. And still do whenever I think about it. It was hilarious!
I went to the store today and got all the ingredients I need for Thanksgiving dinner. I came home and so far I have made my pumpkin pie, pecan pie, cranberry sauce, and jello salad. I need to make one more pie tonight before I call it quits for the day. Tomorrow i will have to make the rolls first thing, and then get the house cleaned up before I start on the mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, turkey (although T will do that...no way am I dealing with a 12 pound raw bird with guts inside! Yuck!)green beans and a special appearance of steamed broccoli since that's the only thing I know Little buddy will eat. In fact, all day today he wanted white milk, chocolate milk, waffles, pretzels and candy. But at dinner time he got a can of green beans out of the cupboard and said he wanted broccoli. So, we made him some broccoli (I had some frozen in the freezer). I figure if all he asks for is candy all day, then by golly the kid is going to get broccoli if he asks for it!
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

It's Fall!

We have so many leaves it isn't funny! Little Buddy helped daddy rake leaves last Saturday. He had a great time jumping into the leaves, and falling down like Charlie Brown. He has been watching Charlie Brown over and over these days. He's funny! Anyway...the front yard got raked, but the backyard is a different story. I bet if all the leaves were put into one huge pile, it would be like 10 feet tall! Seriously... I am not kidding when I say that. There are tons!!!!!!
I am feeling really sore and achy right now. I shouldn't have done what I did tonight considering I am 30 weeks pregnant, but you know when you get those urges, you have to follow through! T had to go to mutual, but really fast before he left I made him take the crib down so we could move it out of Little Buddy's room, and put up the bedframe. While he was gone, I put the dust ruffle on the bed, and assembled the safety railing to go on it so Little buddy won't fall out. That was tough! After working up a sweat trying to make sure it was tight enough, I then had to rearrange some furniture. I took all the toys out of his toy cupboard so I could move that, his rocking chair and ottoman, and the bookshelf. I am not really happy with the arrangement, but I couldn't move the dressers without help, so I had to leave them where they were which limited my arranging options. Those dressers will eventually go to the baby, but we have to find a dresser for Little buddy's room first.
Little buddy loves having a big boy bed. I thought he might want to go back and forth from that to the crib, but he knows that the crib is the babies now. He doesn't even need to be rocked before going to bed. he just climbs right in and snuggles down under his covers. It os sooo cute! The last few nights I don't think he has been feeling well, so he wanted us to stay by him and didn't want us to leave. I think he must be feeling better tonight, because he didn't seem to have any problems going to bed. Hopefully he will not fall out, and the railing will be tight enough, and he won't end up in our room 3 times during the night. I am getting sleep deprived! I was not expecting that to happen until the baby comes!
Well, I had better get my shopping list made so I can go get groceries for Thanksgiving dinner. I need to make the pies, rolls, cranberry sauce, and jello salad tomorrow. I also need to clean my house!!!!!I need a good night sleep tonight for sure!

Cruisin around
Well today I was able to cruise all around the town...in my NEW CAR! It was great to be able to just go where I needed to go. I am really liking my van. it is so nice!
My first stop of the day was my doctor appointment. I wasn't actually able to get in with the doctor I had originally chosen, so they scheduled me with another doctor. I must say that I really, really liked this doctor, and so I have switched to her. She was so nice! I felt like she really cared and was willing to spend time with me to answer my questions, even though I wasn't officially her patient. That was a good sign. She is a new doctor, and she has a 2 year old little boy, and is expecting her second as well. She told Logan she hopes he comes every time because he reminded her of her son. That's a good sign too, that she was willing to have him there. Anyway, I left that appointment feeling much better, and much more comfortable. I am still a bit upset, because it looks like I will have to have another c-section, and I really don't want to. It makes me sad/mad that my body won't do what it is supposed to to deliver babies the way it is intended to. I just want my body to work. It is really making me upset about this. I don't want to have to have major surgery for every child we want to have. That in itself is risky, let alone doing it over and over. What if I am not able to have as many children as we feel we are supposed to have? I know things will work out the way they are supposed to, but I don't want to schedule a c-section, and never know if I could have had a regular delivery. But I also don't want to wait until I go into labor, only to be in labor for a million hours and then have to have a c-section anyway. I just don't know what to do. The doctor said it is my choice, but I don't want to make the wrong one. I guess I just need to pray about it, and maybe get a blessing as well to help me know what to do.
After the doctor, we headed to our insurance place to add a policy for our minivan. Then, we went to Babies 'R' Us to get a safety rail for Little buddy's new big boy bed. Right now he is just sleeping on the mattress on the floor, but I want to put the whole bed together and use the rail so he won't fall out. I think he really likes that he can get up and come out of his room when he wakes up. I don't mind either, as long as it isn't at 3:30 in the morning! He actually does pretty good at staying in bed to go to sleep, which surprised me. We still need to take the crib down, and move it out of his room. Hopefully we can do that tomorrow.
Our next stop was to Sam's Club to get milk, and a few other items. Little buddy was acting really sleepy, so we stopped at McDonald's to get lunch so I could hurry home and put him down for a nap. he didn't really eat much once we got home. He was feeling a bit warm to me too, so it looked like he was coming down with something. After his nap, we hurried and hopped back in the car and ran to the post office to mail a bridal shower gift for my future SIL. I made a really cute decorated lunch tin with 10 Thank You cards, a matching pen, and a matching address book. I hope she likes it. When we got home, Little buddy was feeling really hot, so I took off his clothes and let him hang out in his diaper watching Charlie Brown until daddy got home. Daddy had surgery on his ingrown toenail today, and so he will be limping around for a few days. I am glad it will finally be taken care of, and shouldn't bother him anymore.
Tomorrow will be another big day, so I better hit the hay! I have got to get things in order to prepare for Thanksgiving and my parents! Yippee!

I am soooo Broke!
Well, today was a great day! It was just how I want my Saturdays to be. We basically spent the whole day together as a family, and I love that. T started off this morning trying to make a dent in the month's worth of leaves that are in the yard. At around 10 a.m. we headed to a furniture store that was having a big sale. We bought Little buddy a mattress and boxspring set, and frame. It was 50% off, so it was a really great deal. we had to leave it there until later in the day so we could figure out a way to haul it home. We didn't think our VW Passat would do the job.
Our next errand for the day, was to go car shopping. Mini van, to be exact. We have been making due with one car, and it is getting to be a little bit rough. We have been ideally thinking we wanted a Honda Odyssey, but are having a hard time finding one in our price range, with the features we want. And the right color...that's how I pick my cars. I believe there are certain colors that are not fitting for certain makes of cars. So if we found a van that was basically what we wanted, but was one of the taboo colors, it just wouldn't do. That's just me. Anyway...we stopped at one dealer, only to find 2 1999 models for our right price (but were the wrong colors, and I don't want one that old) and all the rest were 2004, and 2006's, which were double or more the price of the 99's. So, we attempted to find another dealer that we had seen advertised. On our way, we drove past a Jeep dealer, and I told T we should drive through to see what used mini vans they had. Well, it turned out that they had one 2003 Chrysler Town and Country that was an acceptable dark blue color, had gray leather interior, CD player, and a DVD player! It was in great shape, and the price was right! We took it for a drive, and said we'll take it! Woo-Hoo! I have a new car! I love it! I am so excited!
On another note, I also went to the store to buy some sheets and bedding for Little buddy's new big boy bed, and spent a little bit of money there as well. So, while I am extremely excited about the new bed, bedding, and new car, I do feel a bit sick about all the money we have spent today. Yikes! But all in all, it has been a great day!

What to say today?
I always think of things I should write in my blog, but when I actually get online to do so, I draw a blank. The weather is pretty frightful, and that makes me feel LAZY. The only thing I like to do on dreary days is bake. I already made a bran muffin mix that you can keep in the fridge for up to 6 weeks, so you can cook muffins whenever you want. I think I will just bake them up all at once, and then pop them in the freezer instead. Then I don't have to take up space in the fridge with the bowl of batter. I am feeling the urge to bake some cookies as well. I have a roast cooking in the crockpot for dinner too. It's actually a recipe called Machaca Beef from the Fix It and Forget It cookbook for Entertaining. You cook the roast with some onions, seasonings, water and green chiles, and then shred it up with salsa and use it for tacos, burritos or whatever. I bet I can freeze the leftovers of this too, can't I? We never seem to eat all the leftovers fast enough, so I better try and freeze what I can. I am getting hungry now!
So, I am feeling pretty proud of myself that I already have 4 gifts for my son for Christmas. I got him a train set and train table, a rug that has roads and houses and stuff on to drive little cars on, a Little Tykes mailbox, that he plays with at our friends house every time we are there (except now we have moved, so we don't get to play there anymore), and I just ordered a kit to make a quiet/reverence book for him for church. It was a bit pricey, but I am feeling really excited to make it for him! My mom made one for us when we were little, and I thought it was the neatest thing. Now I need to start thinking about gifts for my hubby, and the people in my family whose names we have this year. I also need to get cracking on making gifts for my downline. I am making them the covered lunchbox tins. I have 3 to make. I am not sure what to put inside...I certainly am not going to fill them with cards. Maybe a treat of some kind? We'll see.
I really can't wait until Monday the 27th. After that day, my husband will officially be finished with his phd dissertation, I can have my husband back, and we can get on with our lives. I have tried to be patient and understanding, but it sure is hard considering my pregnant emotions right now. I feel like I have been making a lot of effort, but sometimes I don't think he notices, so it is frustrating. Like I said...the end of the month can't come soon enough!
Well, I better be off to figure out if I am really going to make some cookies or not.

Thoughts on being a housewife
I am not sure if I am really cut out to be one. I get too overwhelmed. I try and keep things picked up and tidy, but I turn around and it seems like everything is undone again. I don't like this vicious cycle. Little buddy is at the age where he tends to leave little things scattered about...everywhere! I am getting a bit bigger seeing as I have aout 2 1/2 months to go before baby #2 arrives, and frankly, I have no desire to be bending down all the time trying to pick things up. I try and ask my 2 1/2 year old to help me pick things up and put them away in his toy basket, but he takes one thing and comes back with two more. T has been busy writing his dessertation, so I try not to bug him too much to help right now. He used to be so good at helping me do chores( actually, he did most of them at times!) but not lately. Having a bigger house has its pros and cons. The pro is that there is generally a place to put things away. The con is that there are more rooms to get messy, and therefore clean. I am trying though, and succeeding in most cases.
I have to tell you...having a dishwasher and a garbage disposal really is the best! I am even willing to do dishes now. T used to be the dishwasher...for the past 6 1/2 out of 7 1/2 years we have been married. We only had a dishwasher in our first apartment in Indiana, and even then we didn't use it all the time because of the gross hard water stains it would leave on everything. Yuck! Anyway...I think he has been happily relieved of his previous dishwashing duties. He does load the dischwasher for me after dinner on most occassions. Usually, Little buddy and I are stiill at the table, and he is up and has the dishwasher loaded and started before we are even done. Now that's fast!
On a different note, Little buddy has been addictted to Charlie Brown lately. I got the three disc set at Sam's Club that has the halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas ones in it. He loves watching Charlie Brown try and kick the football and then fall down. He even re-enacts it. It's funny. I am a bit concerned however, because at the store yesterday, I heard him mutter something under his breath that sounded like "stupid". I looked at him and said.."What did you say?" And he replied " said stupid like Charlie Brown". Yikes! I don't want him to be saying that! I told him we didn't say that word, and I haven't heard him say it since, so let's hope it sinks in. We might have to ban Charlie Brown if he learns to be mean from it.
We also ran into a girl from church at the store, and she had her almost 3 year old with her. Little buddy, and this little boy had a yelling match at each other saying " My house!" "No, my house!" " No, my house!" back and forth. Both of us kept trying to tell them to be quiet and not yell, etc. etc. Well, Little buddy must have been getting fed up with this other little boy because all of a sudden, he said " stop it kid" to the little boy. I was so surprised! I made him tell the little boy he was sorry. I know that one is my fault, because I do tell him to stop it when he is throwing a fit, or misbehaving. My sweet little boy is definitely in the midst of his 2's. He's really not too terrible though. He has his moments.
Well, only a little over a week until Thanksgiving! My parents are coming, so I am excited to show them my new house, and the new area we live in. We are the only ones in both our families to be living in the boonies of America, so we don't get visitors very often. I am excited!

Gloomy Day
I know...how clever am I at coming up with my post names. Well...that is what it honestly was today. Gloomy. It started out last night as bedtime rolled around. Little buddy was having lots of issues with "boogers" in his nose. He was having a runny nose, and he hasn't figured out the difference between snot and boogers yet. Sorry to be so detailed. I actually got him to bed at 8, which I was very proud about. He then proceeded to wake up about every 2 hours for the rest of the night complaining about "boogers". Poor guy...couldn't breathe! He also had a headache, and was crying that it hurt, and he wanted me to kiss it to make it better. He finally let T give him some medicine, and I was able to rock him back to sleep. This was around 4:45 a.m. He actually slept until 8, so that was good. T on the other hand, had only about 2 hours of sleep total. He was up late frantically writing his dissertation, and was up at 3:30 still when Little buddy woke up. I guess he rocked him for about an hour before he would let him give him the medicine. I finally stepped in, and so T went to bed. He had to be at work today at 7:30, so he really only got about 2 hours of sleep, if that.
The weather was just so gloomy, that Little buddy and I stayed in our p.j.'s until lunchtime. I let him watch t.v. and I dozed on the couch. I got a load of laundry in the dryer, and some bread mixed up in the breadmaker, but that's about it. I couldn't even get online today since T took the laptop with him. Only a few more days of not having T be fully "here" and he should be done with his dissertation, and have it sent off to his committee to get ready for his defense on the 27th. I can't wait! We want to make some changes to our new house, and I can't do them without his help. I want to repaint a few rooms, and T is going to build some shelves to put in the basement for our food storage. I have been feeling very motivated to get cracking on building our food storage, and having the things we need ready for an emergency. Maybe I feel this way since I live in tornado land, and will be here for the next long while. Who knows?
Well...it is off to bed for me! Nighty-night!

Beautiful Day!
I can't believe it is November, and it is like 78 degrees outside today! It's great! I love nice sunny days. It makes me feel more motivated to do things. When it is cloudy and gloomy, I don't feel like doing anything at all! Winter is rough! All I feel like doing is baking on days like those.
I am feeling pretty good these days. I actually have more energy than I have had in a long time. I don't feel like napping all the time either. Maybe it is from the first few weeks after we moved when I was sick, and basically layed on the couch all day while Little buddy watched hours of t.v. I got my fair share of rest I guess.
I am feeling relieved today. I failed my glucose test last week, and so I had to go back and take the horrid 3 hour long one. Thank goodness I passed that one, but come on! How much torture do they think a pregnant woman needs to go through?
I am just starting this blogging thing, so I will get the hang of it soon. we'll see how long I can keep it up!
