Wow! It only took me 29 years, but I just got a sewing machine. I am making a quiet book for Little buddy for church, and I needed a sewing machine to sew things on it. I went and got one yesterday, and I have actually sewed! All by myself! I am so excited, and proud of myself! Now, it's definitely NOT perfect, and some people would probably pick it out and start over, but I figure it's a fun reminder of my very first attempt to sew by myself. And it is a project I made (am making) for my children. That alone, makes me feel proud, and I hope this quiet book becoomes a treasure. My mom made one for us when we were little, and I remember how much time she spent working on it. We absolutely loved it! I ordered my kit from www.ldsquietbooks.com. This is the only quiet book I have seen that has resembled the one we had , and I like it the best. It is a bit pricey, and does require some time and effort, but I think it's well worth it. It will last a long time...I hope!
On another note...I haven't been able to post comments on anyone's blogs lately. Is that the case with anyone else? I don't know how to fix it so I can leave comments, so if anyone knows, please let me know!
Off to Wal-Mart to get some groceries, and stocking stuffers!

Congrats on the sewing! It is a big accomplishment - I also recently developed this skill too. My next big idea is to do our Christmas stockings - but it may not happen til next year.
For the comments, you may have to sign up for Blogger Beta - get a gmail account. If you are already doing beta, then I don't know. that's my best guess.
I had a few problems once I switched to blogger beta. It wasn't signing me in to my google account. It seems to be working now.
Those quiet books are really cute! I think they'll be worth every penny.
What kind of machine did you get? My mom says the Bernina 700 is the best and will last for about a million years, but they're pretty expensive. My sewing machine is the $25 variety that only does one stitch, but I only wanted to use it to make curtains anyway. Congratulations on being all domestic! Are you feeling better about being alone? Is your baby back yet?
My "men" got home last night. It is nice to have them back. I can't believe how big Logan looked to me...after only being gone for 4 days!
My sewing machine is a Janome Jem Platinum 760. Sounds fancy, huh? So far I like it, and I have heard that it is a great brand, and will also last a long time. It has 60 stitches. It was a bit pricey, though.
