So, I braved it this year and signed up to bring chili for the ward Halloween party. Last year they did have judges. I haven't heard about this year, but I am guessing there will be. I am trying to find the perfect chili recipe to make.
I was trying to decide between Maren's Cincinnati Chili, which has barbecue sauce and chocolate amongst the ingredients, or Andrea's Black Bean chili. I have both of these recipes from the Lafayette recipe group, and I know I have tasted Andrea's chili, and remembered it was really good. I don't remember if I ever tried Maren's, but I trust her recipes to be winners.
So, please give me your feedback about which recipe I should make, or if you have a winning chili recipe, please send it my way. Even if mine doesn't win, I want to make sure it isn't just your average chili. I want it to be gooooood!
Gracias.

I'm honored that you'd consider my recipes winners. :) One thing to think about with Cincinnati Chili is that it's served over fettuccine. It would be something different, but maybe a little more work. Good luck! (Mmmmm... now I want to make some - maybe Sunday for conference!)
Oh, I didn't realize that. It wouldn't be good to eat without the pasta? I thought it would be like normal chili. well, that might change things a bit. We shall see. Maybe i will have to make a test batch for us first. Oh, the torture!
I guess it might be okay without the pasta, but probably a little strong! Also, the recipe doesn't make very much, so plan on doubling it. I would make a test batch first, just in case. BTW, if you don't have all of the spices that are listed for it, no worries. You can leave one or two out. (Just don't leave out the chocolate!)
