Pottermania

I finished Harry Potter this morning. What a great series! J.K. Rowling is very clever and creative. And very, very rich too! I just read a comment from another blog about how cool it is that so many people all over the world(and such a wide variety) have all been reading the same book this week-end. That is really cool if you think about it. And the fact that on average (this is from my own view) most books are about 200 pages, and this one was 800! And still it could be read in just a day or two (with lack of sleep and getting very little else done)Truly amazing!

And now a look back to when my Pottermania began. It was the summer of 2000, and I was on tour with the BYU Folk Dance Team in New Zealand and Australia. We were on the bus so much driving from performance site to performance site that we would get really bored. Most people had brought a book or two with them, and then we would just pass the books around to read. I had a Nancy Drew book with me (I know, so grown up!)My friend Melanie happened to have the first Harry Potter. I hadn't had any desire to see what all the fuss was about, but for lack of anything better to do, I decided it couldn't hurt. It looked like a quick read. Well, when I finished that book, i could not wait to find out what happened next, so I bought the second and third books in New Zealand. Needless to say, Pottermania spread really quickly throughout our team. When we got home later that summer, the fourth book came out. Of course we had to go get it right away! What torture it has been to have to wait over the past 7 years for the rest of them! It is finally over though, and it has been a great ride.

Hey Miss Kerry! Thanks for your comments about the car seat. I'll have to ask the babiesrus people about the legs being too long. I NEVER thought of that! Good point! So fun to see that pic of you and Tony! Y'all look sooo grown up, it's insane. Your kids are adorable, too. I sent your blog over to Kiki so she can check it out. I should give you her blog, too. http://tolmanfamily-kikibug.blogspot.com/

Kerry, I just finished HP7 last night! What a great read! That is the only book we have ever bought the day it hit the shelves. (It took me a week, because Aaron read it first, and then Trey decided he didn't need naps anymore, and then I was just so wasted in the evenings that I couldn't stay awake no matter how hard I tried!
