Ok, so I have misplaced my camera cord, which is why I still haven't updated my blog! In the meantime, I guess I can post about a topic which didn't have any pictures to post with it.
I went and saw Wicked last week-end! It was FANTASTIC!!!!!! I absolutely loved it! The music was wonderful, the cast was amazing, the story was clever and had such a great message. The girl playing Elphaba was phenomenal. Seriously....I am way jealous. I want to sing like that. The girl playing Glinda (the "ga" is silent...ha ha!) was very funny. She was a bit spastic...sorta reminded me of Mary Catherine Gallagher from the movie Superstar (aka Molly Shannon from Saturday Night Live). She probably could have toned it down a bit, but overall it was funny, and she had the audience laughing at her, so that's good.
The girl playing Nessarose was none other than Deedee Magno from The New Mickey Mouse Club in the early 90's and the group The Party! Does anyone else remember that? I totally have that tape, and I remember watching The Mickey Mouse Club after school. It was crazy! But she was really really good, of course.
Tony and I went to see the show with our friends, Rich and Hillary. We couldn't get seats right next to each other, so we sat on opposite sides of the theater, but met during intermission. We had a tough time finding a parking place at first, but managed to squeeze our car into a very tight spot in one of those parking lots where you put your money on the slot ith your space number. Tony let all of us out before he pulled in,and then crawled through the back of the van to get out. It was funny. But, we were right across the street from the theater, so we didn't have to walk too far! That was our exciting adventure! It was a really great evening! I haven't been to see a show like that probably since I was in London in 2001 with Folk Dance. I thoroughly enjoyed it! The only problem with seeing shows like this is that I want to see it again and again!
One of the important messages I got from the show was about the harm and damage in gossiping and spreading rumors about people. Without giving away too much about the show, basically the Wicked Witch of the West became labeled as such because of things others said about her, which were believed by all, that were not true. I have had an experience lately in my life where I have felt the harm and hurt first-hand of gossip. It really can be a very damaging thing.
The other message I got was the importance of people, friends and relationships in our lives. I have always felt that my friendships are an important thing. I know very well how much my friends have meant to me, and really and truly how much I have learned and grown from them. One of the things that is saddest to me in my life is how we each eventually have to go our separate ways, and it is difficult to stay in touch with everyone. I often think about friends now that I haven't been able to stay in touch with, and wonder about how they are doing. That is the great thing about blogging now! I have been put back in touch with so many people....I just look forward to finding more.
Here is a video clip of a song from the show that sums up this last thought. Not to sound too cheesy, but I dedicate it to all my friends (and family) throughout my whole life to this point and in the future!

Oh I am sooo jealous!!! It is coming to Utah next Spring and we are totally getting tickets. If you liked the musical you should read the book. I read the book about 6 years ago, the story of the Wizard of Oz from the point of view of the "wicked" witch. Thanks for posting the song. I really liked it.
You are welcome! The musical is a lot "cleaner" than the book from what I have heard. I hope you get to go! It's so worth it!
Ooh Kerri- Music is powerful and is such a means for bringing the spirit and touching our emotions so quickly.I LOVE this clip-- I am glad for blogging b/c I have been able to 'talk' w/ you again! I have always missed your friendship since I got home from my mission. I am glad we have a form of it again! -- I am sorry to hear about the gossip incident, I just went through a painful process of it as well here, in a small town, But I am all the better for it!You are great!

Ok so I have heard so much about the play, how great it is blah blah blah...so I bought the book. HUGE MISTAKE. It is DISGUSTING and sexually perverse!!! Ewww. I think I got through maybe 3 chapters thinking it would get better or more interesting, but NOPE. It was SO WEIRD and gross! I found out later that apparently the book and the broadway play are COMPLETELY different! Wish I would have known that BEFORE. :)
Amiee, I am so sorry! I have also heard the book is really awful, but the play is wonderful! I am so glad they didn't include that kind of stuff in the musical. You should really try to go see it when it coems to SLC! You would love it!
I just saw Wicked in LA over Christmas last year. It was really so fun. I am impressed that you were able to find such deep meaning in the show :)
And didn't you love the set? How cool was that weird dragon thing that moves during the overture?!
